7 Texting Habits That Quietly Kill Attraction in Marriage
You send your wife a message.
She reads it, but doesn’t seem interested in continuing the conversation.
Maybe she answers with a short “Okay.”
Maybe she replies hours later.
Or perhaps most of your texts have become little more than reminders about groceries, bills, and who’s picking up the kids.
You might start wondering whether she’s losing interest in you.
But here’s a question worth considering:
Could some of your everyday texting habits be making it harder for you two to feel connected?
I’m not suggesting that a single badly written message can destroy attraction.
A healthy marriage is far more complicated than that.
However, when certain communication patterns repeat over months or years, they can contribute to frustration, misunderstandings, and emotional distance.
And sometimes those habits become so familiar that neither partner notices them anymore.
Let’s look at seven common texting mistakes that may quietly weaken connection in marriage, and what you can do instead.
Tao of Badass Review: The Good, the Bad & the Ugly
Is Joshua Pellicer’s Tao of Badass still worth buying in 2026, or has modern dating left it behind?
You’re tired of second-guessing yourself around women.
Maybe you struggle to start conversations. Perhaps you’re reasonably confident at work but become nervous when talking to someone you find attractive.
You’ve tried being friendly, making jokes, and waiting for the right moment.
But nothing seems to change.
Then you discover The Tao of Badass, a dating program that promises to help you understand attraction, body language, and confidence.
It sounds promising.
But there’s a problem: the program comes from an earlier era of dating advice.
Are its lessons still useful, or would you be paying for outdated pickup techniques?
Let’s look at the good, the bad, and the ugly before you decide.
Disclosure: This is an independent, research-based review. I have not personally completed the current edition of Tao of Badass. My assessment is based on publicly available product information, older program descriptions, and independent reader feedback.
Quick Verdict: Is Tao of Badass Worth It?
My verdict: Worth considering for beginners who struggle with dating confidence, but not my first recommendation for building a lasting relationship.
Tao of Badass includes ideas about confidence, communication, body language, and initiating romantic conversations. Those subjects remain relevant.
However, some of its older theories about attraction, gender roles, and women’s behavior deserve a more critical examination.
The Good
- Practical focus on confidence and starting conversations
- Advice about body language and social awareness
- Structured material that may help inexperienced men
- Established program with a substantial history
The Bad
- Some concepts reflect an older pickup-oriented approach
- Certain techniques may encourage overanalyzing ordinary interactions
- Product editions, prices, and bonus packages are not always easy to distinguish
The Ugly
- Claims about predictable female attraction can create unrealistic expectations
- Treating women as psychological puzzles can distract from genuine compatibility
Bottom line: Tao of Badass is not completely outdated, but you should approach it as a collection of dating ideas to evaluate critically, not a proven formula for attracting any woman.
What Is Tao of Badass?
Tao of Badass is a dating advice program created by Joshua Pellicer.
It became popular in the early 2010s and focuses primarily on helping men improve their interactions with women.
The original material covers subjects such as:
- Social confidence
- Body language
- Approaching women
- Building rapport
- Recognizing potential attraction
- Handling awkward dating situations
- Understanding different communication styles
The official Tao of Badass website continues to promote the program, with an emphasis on confidence, communication, and authentic attraction.
That’s encouraging because the underlying challenges haven’t disappeared.
Men still struggle with approaching women, expressing interest, and knowing whether a conversation is going well.
However, the fact that a program is still being sold doesn’t establish that every lesson remains effective or appropriate.
That is what we need to examine.
What Do You Actually Get?
The core product is associated with a digital dating guide, while various editions and sales offers have advertised additional training materials.
Depending on the version, promotional descriptions mention video lessons, body-language training, bonus guides, and related resources.
The official website also promotes separate products and coaching programs.
This creates an important buying consideration.
Don’t assume every Tao of Badass sales page includes the same materials.
Before purchasing, check whether the offer includes the original guide, video training, bonuses, or access to additional programs.
And distinguish between the core product and optional upgrades.
If you mainly want a straightforward guide to talking with women, a large package of unrelated bonuses may not provide much additional value.
The Good: What Still Makes Sense Today?
1. Confidence is a useful dating skill
Many men struggle not because they lack attractive qualities, but because nervousness makes it difficult to express themselves naturally.
Learning to initiate a conversation, ask thoughtful questions, and communicate romantic interest can help.
For example, you don’t need an elaborate pickup line to start talking to someone.
A genuine observation or a simple introduction may be enough.
The useful lesson is not to become fearless.
It’s to become comfortable enough with uncertainty that you can communicate respectfully.
2. Body language can provide useful context
Nonverbal communication matters.
If someone repeatedly turns away, gives minimal responses, or looks uncomfortable, that’s a reason to reconsider whether your attention is welcome.
But body language shouldn’t be treated as a universal secret code.
A smile doesn’t prove attraction.
Crossed arms don’t automatically mean rejection.
Notice the signals, but don’t pretend you can read someone’s mind.
3. A structured approach can help beginners
Some men benefit from learning social skills in a structured way.
Rather than being told to “just be confident,” they want examples and explanations.
Tao of Badass may provide that kind of starting framework.
Its value will depend on how thoughtfully the buyer applies the lessons.
The Bad: Where Tao of Badass Shows Its Age
One concern with older dating programs is the tendency to describe attraction as a predictable system.
You may encounter advice about women’s supposed tests, social status, or techniques designed to increase attraction.
Some observations may sound plausible.
But human relationships aren’t controlled experiments with identical reactions.
For example, if a woman challenges something you’ve said, she might be teasing, disagreeing, feeling uncomfortable, or simply expressing an opinion.
Automatically interpreting that moment as a confidence test may lead you to respond inappropriately.
Another limitation is that much of the program concentrates on getting initial attention.
That may help someone who struggles with early dating.
But maintaining a healthy relationship involves different challenges: honesty, commitment, conflict resolution, and mutual responsibility.
If you already have a girlfriend or wife and want to improve your relationship, I wouldn’t buy Tao of Badass expecting a complete solution.
The Ugly: Can You Really Learn to Control Attraction?
This is where I would be particularly cautious.
Older pickup marketing often suggests that men can reliably create attraction by understanding hidden psychological triggers.
But attraction isn’t something you can manufacture on demand.
A woman might enjoy your humor, confidence, or conversation.
She might also decide that you aren’t compatible.
Neither outcome means you’ve failed to apply a formula correctly.
The trouble begins when advice encourages men to view rejection as a problem to overcome through increasingly sophisticated techniques.
A dating program should help you communicate more confidently, not teach you to disregard another person’s choices.
If a method requires dishonesty, emotional pressure, or ignoring boundaries, I wouldn’t recommend using it.
What Do Real Readers Say?
Tao of Badass has received mixed reader feedback over the years.
Goodreads lists hundreds of ratings for the book, with an average of roughly four out of five stars at the time of this review.
Some readers praise the confidence advice and say the program helped them understand dating interactions.
Other readers question its assumptions or find the instruction insufficiently detailed.
One StoryGraph reviewer, for example, found useful self-help advice but objected to the program’s chauvinistic undertones.
An older discussion on LoveShack includes a reader who describes the book as useful for understanding approaches, while suggesting that it should be supplemented with other material.
These experiences are worth considering, but they aren’t scientific evidence that Tao of Badass reliably improves dating outcomes.
Nor can I verify that every reviewer purchased the same edition currently being sold.
My takeaway: The program has genuine reader interest and some positive feedback, but its methods are not universally admired, and the testimonials do not establish a predictable success rate.
How Much Does Tao of Badass Cost?
This is something you should check carefully.
Different promotional pages display different offers.
During my research, I found sales material advertising the core system at approximately $67, as well as promotional discounts and bundle offers.
Some pages describe additional products or bonuses.
That makes it difficult to identify one price that applies to every buyer.
Before paying, confirm:
- The actual checkout price
- Which version you’re receiving
- Whether bonuses are included
- Whether any upgrades cost extra
- The refund terms and support contact
An older Tao of Badass sales page advertises a 60-day satisfaction guarantee, but you should verify that the same terms apply to your particular purchase.
Don’t let a countdown timer or an advertised discount replace a proper buying decision.
Who Should Consider Tao of Badass?
It may be suitable for you if:
- You’re single and struggle to approach women
- You want structured introductory dating advice
- You’re interested in improving your confidence and conversation skills
- You’re willing to question advice that relies on stereotypes
I’d be more cautious if:
- You’re already in a troubled long-term relationship
- You want a guaranteed way to make a particular woman attracted to you
- You’re uncomfortable with pickup-oriented language
- You already have good social confidence and mainly need relationship skills
The more specific your problem, the easier it becomes to decide whether the program is a sensible purchase.
Is Tao of Badass Better Than Learning to Date Naturally?
You don’t have to choose between structured advice and authenticity.
You can learn communication skills while remaining yourself.
For example, practice starting conversations without expecting every interaction to lead to a date.
Learn how to express interest clearly.
Pay attention to whether the other person enjoys the interaction.
And accept that rejection is a normal part of dating.
If a paid program helps you practice those skills, it may be useful.
But the goal should be developing confidence and judgment, not becoming dependent on scripts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Tao of Badass a scam?
Tao of Badass is an established dating product associated with Joshua Pellicer. However, the existence of a real product doesn’t mean every marketing claim is justified. Evaluate the course contents, current price, and terms before purchasing.
Does Tao of Badass still work in 2026?
Some principles, such as confidence and communication, remain relevant. Other concepts reflect older pickup-oriented approaches and may be less suitable for modern, respectful dating.
There’s no reliable basis for claiming that the entire system guarantees results.
Who created Tao of Badass?
Joshua Pellicer, a dating coach associated with the program and its related training products.
Is Tao of Badass suitable for married men?
It’s primarily designed around attraction and early dating. Married men may find some communication ideas useful, but I wouldn’t treat it as a marriage-repair program.
Is Tao of Badass worth the money?
Possibly, if you’re an inexperienced dater who values structured instruction. Its value is less clear if you already have strong social skills or need help maintaining an existing relationship.
Final Verdict: Should You Buy Tao of Badass?
Tao of Badass is a product of its time, but not everything it teaches is obsolete.
Learning to approach women confidently, communicate clearly, and recognize when attention is welcome can still be useful.
However, I would be skeptical of any suggestion that women respond predictably to a particular sequence of techniques.
I also wouldn’t purchase it as a solution to problems in an established relationship.
My recommendation: Consider Tao of Badass if you want introductory dating guidance and are comfortable evaluating older advice critically. Skip it if you’re looking for guaranteed attraction or comprehensive relationship coaching.
If the program still interests you, visit the Tao of Badass website to examine the current offer and its terms.
Whatever you decide, remember that the purpose of dating advice isn’t to turn every interaction into a performance.
It’s to help you communicate confidently enough to discover whether a genuine connection is possible.
I’m wishing you all the best,
Rickard
Your Wife Stopped Flirting With You? Don’t Start Sexting Her Yet
Remember when your wife used to flirt with you?
Maybe she’d send you playful messages during the day.
She’d smile at you across the room, tease you about something silly, or give you a kiss that felt like more than a quick goodbye.
Now things feel different.
Your conversations are mostly about groceries, bills, work, or who’s picking up the kids.
You still love her. You’re still attracted to her.
But sometimes you wonder:
“Does my wife even see me that way anymore?”
And perhaps you’ve considered doing something to bring back the spark.
Maybe sending a more suggestive message. Making an unexpected sexual joke. Or turning an ordinary conversation into something more exciting.
But before you do that, there’s something worth understanding.
When the flirtation has disappeared from your marriage, making your messages more sexual isn’t necessarily the best place to start.
Sometimes, the most useful thing you can do is make your relationship feel playful, affectionate, and emotionally connected again.
Let’s talk about how to flirt with your wife again without making her feel pressured — or turning every affectionate moment into a request for sex.
1. The Frustration: When Your Wife Stops Flirting With You
It’s not always easy to explain why the absence of flirting hurts.
You may still spend time together.
You may still share a bed, raise children, pay bills, and work as a team.
From the outside, everything might look perfectly normal.
But something feels missing.
Perhaps you used to share inside jokes that made you both laugh.
Now conversations are practical.
You used to exchange compliments.
Now most of your communication concerns responsibilities.
Maybe your wife still tells you she loves you, but you rarely feel that she’s excited to be around you.
And you begin to miss something that can be difficult to put into words:
You don’t just want to be her husband. You want to feel like someone she’s happy to flirt with.
That feeling matters.
Wanting affection, playfulness, and romantic attention in your marriage isn’t unreasonable.
But before you assume your wife has lost interest in you, consider why the flirting may have faded.
2. Why Married Couples Sometimes Stop Flirting
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is treating a lack of flirting as proof that your wife is no longer attracted to you.
It might reflect a change in attraction.
But it might also have very little to do with that.
Your relationship has become focused on responsibilities
Think about your last ten text conversations with your wife.
How many were about something enjoyable?
And how many were about shopping, schedules, chores, family commitments, or problems that needed solving?
Practical communication isn’t wrong.
Marriage involves responsibilities.
But when every conversation serves a practical purpose, you may both forget to communicate simply because you enjoy each other.
The solution isn’t to stop talking about responsibilities.
It’s to make room for something else alongside them.
Stress has replaced spontaneity
Flirting often feels effortless when you’re relaxed.
It’s much harder when you’re exhausted.
If your wife is dealing with work stress, poor sleep, family demands, or emotional concerns, playful communication may not be a priority.
And the same applies to you.
That doesn’t automatically mean either of you has stopped caring.
It may mean your relationship needs more room for rest and connection.
One or both of you feel emotionally disconnected
Sometimes flirting fades because something remains unresolved.
Perhaps you’ve been arguing more often.
Maybe your wife feels unheard.
Or perhaps you’ve both stopped sharing how you really feel.
In that situation, a flirtatious message may land badly because you haven’t addressed the underlying problem.
If your spouse is hurt or frustrated, she may need to feel heard before she’s ready for playful affection.
Flirting has started to feel like an obligation
This is especially important.
Imagine that every time your wife responds positively to a compliment, you immediately turn the conversation toward sex.
Or every affectionate touch becomes an attempt to initiate intimacy.
She may begin to worry that even a small flirtatious response will create expectations.
That’s not necessarily what you intended.
But if she experiences it that way, she may become less comfortable initiating playful contact.
Flirting works best when both people can enjoy it without feeling obligated to take it further.
3. Why You Shouldn’t Start With More Sexual Texts
Let’s be clear.
There’s nothing inherently wrong with sending sexual or suggestive messages to your wife.
If you both enjoy it, it can be part of a healthy intimate relationship.
The problem is assuming that a more provocative text will automatically restore a connection that’s been missing for months or years.
Consider this situation.
You and your wife have barely had a meaningful conversation all week.
You’ve both been busy.
She seems stressed, and most of your messages have been about household tasks.
Suddenly, you send her a highly suggestive message.
Maybe she enjoys it.
But she might also feel confused, uncomfortable, or pressured.
You intended to communicate attraction.
She may experience it as another expectation being placed on her.
That’s why I recommend starting somewhere simpler.
Before you increase the sexual intensity of your messages, rebuild the everyday playfulness that makes flirting enjoyable in the first place.
And remember: if your wife tells you she doesn’t want sexual messages, respect that boundary.
A healthier marriage isn’t built by finding a way around someone’s reluctance.
It’s built by understanding each other better.
4. How to Flirt With Your Wife Again: Five Small Changes
You don’t need a dramatic romantic gesture.
In fact, starting small may help you discover what feels natural to both of you.
Here are five approaches worth trying.
1. Bring back a shared memory
One of the easiest ways to reconnect is to remind your wife of something you genuinely enjoyed together.
For example:
“I just remembered that ridiculous restaurant we went to on our second date. I still can’t believe we ordered that dessert.”
Or:
“Remember when we got completely lost on that weekend trip? I was thinking about that today and smiling.”
These messages don’t demand anything.
They bring a positive shared memory into the present.
And if she responds with another memory or an inside joke, you have an opportunity for a playful exchange.
Don’t force it if she doesn’t.
2. Give a compliment that feels personal
Generic compliments can be nice.
But specific compliments show you’re paying attention.
Instead of automatically texting:
“You’re hot.”
Try something that connects to who she is.
For example:
“I love how excited you get when you talk about something you really care about.”
Or:
“You looked so happy laughing with everyone yesterday. It made me smile.”
A compliment shouldn’t be a transaction.
You don’t need her to compliment you back.
Offer it because you mean it.
3. Reintroduce gentle humor
Remember the things that used to make you laugh together?
Maybe you have a running joke about a terrible movie you watched.
Maybe you always playfully disagree about who makes the better coffee.
You could send:
“Important marriage question: Are we finally ready to admit that my pancakes are legendary?”
If humor is part of your relationship, a message like this can feel more natural than an abrupt romantic declaration.
The key is to use humor that brings you together.
Avoid teasing about insecurities, painful subjects, or things your wife has asked you not to joke about.
4. Create opportunities for connection outside your phones
Texting can open the door to flirting.
But it doesn’t need to carry your entire romantic relationship.
You might suggest:
“I’d love to spend a little time with just you this weekend. Coffee and a walk?”
Or:
“I miss having our little adventures. Want to pick somewhere new for us to visit?”
The invitation matters more than the activity itself.
And if your wife isn’t interested, ask what she might enjoy instead.
You may discover she needs rest, help with responsibilities, or an honest conversation about something that’s bothering her.
5. Let affectionate moments stay affectionate
This might be the most important change of all.
If you hug your wife, allow it to be a hug.
If you compliment her, let it be a compliment.
If she sends you a playful message, enjoy the interaction without immediately trying to make it sexual.
This doesn’t mean suppressing your attraction.
It means making room for affection without expectations.
Over time, that can help create a more relaxed environment for both of you.
If you both want to explore more romantic or sexual flirting, you can discuss what feels welcome.
5. Seven Flirty Texts You Can Send Your Wife Without Making Things Awkward
If you’re wondering what to write, here are seven examples.
They’re deliberately lighthearted.
They aren’t designed to manipulate your wife into responding or to guarantee a romantic reaction.
Think of them as starting points that you can adapt to your own relationship.
Text 1: The shared-memory text
“I walked past that little café we used to go to. Made me think of you.”
Best when: You have a positive shared memory you can mention naturally.
Text 2: The playful compliment
“So that you know, your laugh is still one of my favorite sounds.”
Best when: You want to show appreciation without asking for anything.
Text 3: The inside joke
“I saw something today that reminded me of our terrible attempt at cooking Italian food. We really should try again.”
Best when: You enjoy laughing about shared experiences.
Text 4: The invitation
“How would you feel about a little date night this week? Nothing complicated. Just us.”
Best when: You haven’t spent much quality time together recently.
Text 5: The unexpected appreciation
“I don’t always say it, but I really appreciate how much thought you put into the things that matter to our family.”
Best when: Your wife has been carrying responsibilities that deserve acknowledgment.
And if you’ve been leaving too much of that work to her, follow the compliment with meaningful action.
Text 6: The gentle flirt
“I caught myself smiling about you today. Thought you deserved to know.”
Best when: Your relationship is comfortable with affectionate messages.
Text 7: The low-pressure romantic message
“I miss our silly, flirty side. I’d love for us to make a little more room for that again.”
Best when: You both recognize that everyday responsibilities have crowded out playfulness.
You might notice something about these examples.
None of them requires your wife to respond in a particular way.
That’s intentional.
You’re offering an opportunity to connect, not setting a test she has to pass.
6. Three Flirting Mistakes That Can Make Emotional Distance Worse
Let’s look at what to avoid.
Mistake 1: Turning every conversation toward sex
If your wife says she’s tired, responds with a short message, or mentions a stressful day, don’t automatically respond with a sexual joke.
There may be occasions when playful innuendo is welcome.
But if you’re uncertain, start by responding to what she actually said.
For example:
“I’ve had such a stressful day.”
A useful reply might be:
“That sounds exhausting. Want me to handle dinner tonight?”
Sometimes showing care is more important than being clever.
Mistake 2: Treating flirting like a performance review
Suppose you send a thoughtful message and receive:
“Thanks ❤️”
You were hoping for a longer, more romantic answer.
Don’t immediately conclude that you’ve failed or that she’s no longer attracted to you.
And avoid responding:
“That’s all I get?”
Flirting isn’t a performance with a required score.
Look at the relationship as a whole, not just one message.
Mistake 3: Using jealousy to create attraction
Some relationship advice suggests making your spouse jealous to revive romantic interest.
I wouldn’t recommend that.
Pretending someone else is interested in you, deliberately withholding affection, or threatening to leave to provoke a reaction can damage trust.
You don’t need to make your wife afraid of losing you to show that you’re interested in reconnecting.
A more useful goal is to make your interactions enjoyable, sincere, and mutually welcome.
7. What If Your Wife Still Doesn’t Flirt Back?
You’ve tried a few small changes.
You’ve been thoughtful.
You’ve stopped expecting every affectionate exchange to lead to something more.
But your wife still doesn’t seem interested in flirting.
What now?
First, don’t assume that the problem must be your wording.
Emotional closeness, stress, changing preferences, health concerns, unresolved conflict, or simply different ways of expressing affection can affect flirting.
If the distance continues, talk about it.
You might say:
“I’ve been missing the playful side of our relationship lately. I don’t want to pressure you, but I’d love to understand how you’re feeling about us.”
Then listen.
She might tell you that she’s exhausted.
She might miss the playfulness too.
Or she might explain that something in the relationship has been bothering her.
Whatever the answer, resist the urge to defend yourself immediately.
You may also discover that she enjoys affection but doesn’t especially enjoy flirting through text.
That’s useful information.
Your goal isn’t to turn her into someone who communicates exactly the way you do.
Your goal is to find ways to connect that you both enjoy.
If there’s a deeper pattern of unresolved conflict or emotional disconnection, couples counseling may be a more appropriate next step than searching for better texts.
8. Try the 5-Minute Texting Check Before You Send Your Next Message
Sometimes you know what you want to communicate, but you’re not sure how your message will come across.
You want to sound playful.
But does the text sound demanding?
You want to show attraction.
But does it accidentally suggest that you’re expecting something in return?
That’s where my 5-Minute Texting Check may help.
The tool is designed to help you examine the wording and tone of your message before sending it.
You can use it to reflect on questions such as:
- Does this sound affectionate or pressuring?
- Am I expressing appreciation or fishing for reassurance?
- Is the message personal to our relationship?
- Am I assuming how my wife feels?
- Would I still be comfortable sending this if she didn’t reply immediately?
Try the 5-Minute Texting Check.
For privacy, you can use fictionalized or anonymized examples instead of including personal details.
The tool cannot tell you what your wife thinks, predict her response, or guarantee renewed attraction.
But it can help you pause and consider whether your words communicate what you actually intend.
And that small pause is sometimes useful.
9. When Is It Okay to Make Your Texts More Suggestive?
We’ve talked about why you shouldn’t automatically start with sexual messages.
But does that mean you should avoid them altogether?
Not necessarily.
If your wife enjoys playful romantic communication and you’ve both established that suggestive messages are welcome, there may be room for them.
The important questions are:
Is this welcome? Does it fit our relationship right now? Are we both comfortable with it?
You don’t have to guess.
Ask your wife what kinds of messages she enjoys.
For some couples, teasing and innuendo are fun.
Others prefer affectionate compliments, romantic invitations, or in-person flirtation rather than phone messages.
And preferences can change.
A message that was welcome years ago may not be welcome today, just as something that once felt awkward might later feel enjoyable.
Mutual enthusiasm matters more than any particular flirting technique.
10. How to Bring Back the Spark Without Trying to Force It
If your wife has stopped flirting with you, you don’t need to solve everything today.
Start with one small action.
Share a memory.
Give a sincere compliment.
Make her laugh if that’s something you naturally do together.
Offer a little affection without asking for more.
And pay attention to what she enjoys.
If she responds warmly, that’s a chance to keep connecting.
If she seems uncomfortable or distant, respect that response and try to understand what’s behind it.
A marriage is not repaired by sending the perfect message.
But everyday interactions can help create the conditions for a healthier, more connected relationship.
And those interactions begin with how you treat each other, not with a clever technique.
The Bottom Line: Start With Connection, Not Intensity
If your wife doesn’t flirt with you the way she used to, it’s understandable that you miss it.
You may miss the teasing, the compliments, the private jokes, and the feeling that she still sees you as her romantic partner.
But don’t mistake the absence of flirting for a problem that can always be solved with a more provocative text.
Sometimes, the better first move is surprisingly simple.
Make room for affection that doesn’t demand anything in return.
Reconnect through shared memories, gentle humor, genuine appreciation, and conversations that aren’t only about responsibilities.
Then discover together what kind of flirting feels natural now.
If you’d like help reviewing the tone of a message before you send it, you can try my 5-Minute Texting Check.
Because the goal isn’t to get your wife to respond to a particular line.
It’s to build a relationship where you can both enjoy being playful with each other again.
I’m wishing you all the best,
Rickard
Stop Asking Your Wife “What’s Wrong?” — Text Her This Instead
Stop Asking Your Wife “What’s Wrong?” — Text Her This Instead
Your wife seems upset.
She’s quieter than usual, gives you short answers, or responds to your messages with a simple “I’m fine.”
Naturally, you want to help.
So you ask:
“What’s wrong?”
She says, “Nothing.”
You ask again.
“Are you sure?”
Suddenly, a question you meant as concern becomes another source of tension.
Sound familiar?
The problem isn’t necessarily that you asked the wrong question. It’s that your question may be asking her to explain feelings she’s not ready to discuss.
If you want to reconnect with your wife when something seems off, you don’t need a psychological trick or a perfect romantic message.
You need to communicate that you’ve noticed, you care, and you’re willing to listen without demanding an immediate explanation.
Let’s look at how.
She Reads Your Texts But Barely Replies? Here’s What Your Messages May Be Signaling
You send your wife or girlfriend a message.
She reads it.
Maybe she answers with a single word. Maybe she sends a thumbs-up emoji. Or maybe several hours pass before you hear anything.
Meanwhile, you’re wondering:
Did I say something wrong? Is she annoyed with me? Why does she barely reply when we used to text each other all the time?
When this happens occasionally, it may mean very little. But when it becomes your normal way of communicating, it can leave you feeling surprisingly lonely.
If she reads your texts but barely replies, the problem may not be the individual message. It may be what your conversations have gradually become.
In this article, we’ll look at what her short replies might mean, what your own messages could be communicating, and how to start rebuilding a more meaningful connection without pressuring her.
How to Flirt With Your Wife Again Without Making It Weird
There was probably a time when flirting with your wife required almost no thought at all.
You looked at her.
She looked at you.
You made some ridiculous comment.
She laughed.
Maybe you touched her arm slightly longer than necessary.
Maybe you messaged her in the middle of the afternoon just because you were thinking about her.
Then something happened.
You got married.
Life became busier.
There were bills.
Schedules.
Laundry.
Work.
Maybe children.
And somewhere along the way, a strange thing happened.
You became extremely good at communicating with your wife…
…without actually flirting with her.
Now the idea of suddenly becoming playful again can feel almost uncomfortable.
You might even think:
“What am I supposed to do? Start using pickup lines on my own wife?”
No.
Please don’t.
The goal isn’t to pretend you’re single again.
And it isn’t to suddenly become a completely different man.
If you want to know how to flirt with your wife again without making it weird, start with a much simpler idea:
Don’t try to perform flirting. Bring back play.
That’s where we’re going to begin.
Continue readingWhat to Text Your Wife When She Feels Distant (Without Making It Worse)
Your wife replies:
“Fine.”
That’s it.
No emoji.
No question back.
No warmth.
And now you’re staring at your phone, wondering what you’re supposed to do next.
Send another message?
Ask if she’s angry?
Tell her you love her?
Make a joke?
Leave her alone?
This is where a lot of men make the situation harder without meaning to.
They feel the distance and immediately try to close the distance.
So they text more.
“Are you okay?”
“Did I do something?”
“Why are you acting different?”
“Can we talk?”
And sometimes every new message creates exactly the opposite result.
She becomes even more distant.
So if you’re wondering what to text your wife when she feels distant, I want to start with an important distinction:
Your goal isn’t to find one magical sentence that makes her warm again.
Your goal is to send a message that makes connection easier rather than adding more pressure.
That changes what you should send.

And before she even opens the message, she probably has a pretty good idea what you’re going to say.
“Can you pick up some milk?”
“What’s for dinner?”
“Did you remember to pay the electricity bill?”
Nothing particularly romantic.
Nothing particularly interesting.
Just two adults doing a pretty good job of running a household together.
Now imagine something different.
Your name appears on her phone, but this time the message has absolutely nothing to do with dinner, groceries, bills, appointments, or picking up the kids.
For a moment, she’s not reading a message from her household administrator.
She’s hearing from her husband.
And that small distinction might be more important than you think.
Because if you want to reconnect with your wife, sending more messages isn’t necessarily the answer.
You may need to change what those messages actually communicate.
Let’s look at seven ways to do that without sounding ridiculous, forcing romance, or suddenly behaving like a completely different person.
Continue readingWhy Is My Wife Pulling Away? 7 Reasons You Haven’t Thought About
Your wife probably didn’t wake up one morning and decide to pull away from you.
That’s what makes this so confusing.
Usually, it’s smaller than that.
Fewer kisses.
Shorter conversations.
Less sex.
She stops telling you the little things about her day.
You reach for her in bed, and she turns the other way.
She spends more time on her phone.
You ask what’s wrong.
“Nothing.”
Nothing dramatic enough to point at.
But enough small changes for you to know:
Something is different.
And eventually you start wondering:
Why is my wife pulling away from me?
Maybe you’ve already considered the obvious explanations.
She’s stressed.
She’s angry.
She’s losing attraction.
Maybe there’s another man.
Those things are possible.
But men often overlook other explanations.
And one of the most uncomfortable possibilities is this:
The things you’re doing to stop your wife from pulling away may be giving her even more reasons to want space.
Let’s look at what’s actually happening.
What Does It Mean When Your Wife Is Pulling Away?
Imagine a man I’ll call Mark.
Mark had been married for twelve years.
He couldn’t identify the day his marriage changed because there wasn’t one.
There was no enormous argument.
No confession.
No suitcase beside the front door.
His wife seemed… farther away.
She used to tell him stories about people at work.
Now he’d ask:
“How was your day?”
“Fine.”
She used to sit beside him on the couch.
Now she’d often sit at the other end.
Sex became less frequent.
Kissing became quicker.
Even her text messages changed.
Mark would send:
“How’s your day going? ❤️”
and receive:
“Busy.”
He knew something was wrong.
So Mark did what seemed logical.
He tried harder.
More messages.
More touching.
More questions.
More attempts to initiate sex.
More:
“Are you okay?”
“Are you mad at me?”
“What’s wrong with us?”
“Do you still love me?”
The harder Mark tried to close the gap, the wider it seemed to become.
That’s because “pulling away” isn’t really one problem.
It’s a behavior with many possible causes.
Your job isn’t to find the perfect trick that makes your wife come closer.
Your first job is to understand why the distance appeared in the first place.
Here are seven possibilities you may not have considered.
1. She May Have Stopped Trying to Get Through to You
This one is easy to miss.
You think:
“She doesn’t talk to me anymore.”
But rewind six months.
Or a year.
Was she talking then?
Maybe she complained that you weren’t spending enough time together.
Maybe she kept bringing up something around the house.
Maybe she wanted more help.
Maybe she told you she felt ignored.
Maybe she tried to discuss your sex life.
Maybe she wanted you to put your phone away.
And what happened?
Perhaps you listened.
Perhaps you argued.
Perhaps you explained why she was wrong.
Perhaps you promised to change, and then life returned to normal.
Eventually, she stopped bringing it up.
You thought:
“Great. We’re not arguing about that anymore.”
She thought:
“What’s the point?”
Silence can look like peace when it’s actually resignation.
This doesn’t mean every complaint your wife has is automatically correct.
You’re allowed to disagree.
But if your wife repeatedly tried to communicate something and eventually stopped, her withdrawal may have begun long before you noticed it.
Ask yourself:
What did she stop asking me for?
That question can reveal more than asking what she’s angry about today.
2. She May Feel Like You’ve Stopped Being Curious About Her
When you first met your wife, you had hundreds of questions.
What music do you like?
Where have you traveled?
What do you want from life?
What’s your family like?
What makes you laugh?
What scares you?
What do you want to do someday?
Then you married her.
And somewhere along the way, you may have started believing you’d finished learning who she was.
You haven’t.
She hasn’t finished learning who you are either.
People change.
Your wife at 42 isn’t exactly the woman she was at 27.
Her ambitions may have changed.
Her fears may have changed.
Her body has changed.
Her priorities may have changed.
Her opinions may have changed.
What she wants from the next ten years may be completely different from what she wanted from the previous ten.
But many married couples stop exploring each other.
Instead, they discuss:
the mortgage,
the children,
the car,
dinner,
work,
appointments,
and whose turn it is to buy toilet paper.
You know everything about the household.
But how much do you currently know about your wife?
Distance can grow when two people stop discovering each other.
3. Every Attempt at Affection May Have Started Feeling Like a Request
This can happen without you realizing it.
You kiss her.
She wonders whether you’re initiating sex.
You rub her shoulders.
She wonders where your hands are going next.
You cuddle in bed.
She expects you to escalate.
You send a flirty message.
She assumes you’re expecting sex that evening.
Eventually, she may avoid the first step because she doesn’t want to deal with the expected second one.
You experience that as rejection.
So you try harder.
More touching.
More flirting.
More initiation.
Now she feels even more pressure.
And suddenly you’re trapped in a cycle where both of you are reacting to the other’s reaction.
If this sounds familiar, your primary problem may be sexual rather than emotional. I’ve written separately about why your wife may not be interested in you sexually anymore.
But here’s a useful experiment:
Let some affection remain affection.
Kiss your wife without trying to turn it into sex.
Hug her without expecting anything.
Sit close without testing whether she’ll let you go further.
Make physical closeness safe again, free of expectation.
Paradoxically, taking pressure away can sometimes create more room for genuine desire.
4. You May Have Become Too Focused on Her Reactions
Mark did this.
Once he became afraid that his wife was pulling away, he started monitoring everything.
She didn’t kiss him goodbye.
Bad sign.
She laughed at something on her phone.
Who is she talking to?
She said she was tired.
Is she avoiding me?
She went out with friends.
Would she rather spend time with them?
She didn’t use a heart emoji in her text.
Something must be wrong.
Mark had turned his marriage into a dashboard.
Every interaction was either green or red.
And his wife could feel it.
His mood started depending on hers.
If she was affectionate, Mark relaxed.
If she seemed distant, he became anxious.
If she wanted sex, everything was fine.
If she didn’t, he worried about their marriage.
That’s exhausting for both people.
Your wife shouldn’t have to reassure you that your marriage still exists constantly.
And you shouldn’t have to spend your life analyzing every text message she sends.
This doesn’t mean ignoring genuine warning signs.
It means refusing to make every tiny behavior carry the weight of your entire marriage.
Sometimes the most attractive thing you can do is become emotionally steady again.
Not cold.
Not indifferent.
Steady.
5. She May Be Protecting Herself From Another Disappointment
Suppose you’ve promised to change before.
“I’ll spend more time with you.”
“I’ll stop doing that.”
“We’ll start going out again.”
“I’ll help more.”
“I’ll work on it.”
And perhaps you meant every word.
For a week, things improved.
Then life happened.
Old habits returned.
You forgot.
She reminded you.
You tried again.
Eventually, something interesting can happen.
She stops getting excited.
You suggest a date.
“Sure.”
You promise something will be different.
“Okay.”
You make a romantic gesture.
“That’s nice.”
You think:
Why doesn’t she appreciate that I’m trying?
But from her perspective, hope may have become expensive.
If she’s been disappointed repeatedly, distance can become protection.
She doesn’t want to believe things are changing because believing makes the next disappointment hurt more.
If that’s happening, don’t try to talk her into trusting you.
Give her evidence.
Consistency is more convincing than promises.
Do the small thing.
Then do it again.
And again.
Without constantly asking:
“Do you see how much I’ve changed?”
Let your behavior speak long enough for her to notice it herself.
6. She May Be Pulling Away From Her Life – Not Just From You
This possibility is important because husbands naturally interpret changes in their wives through the marriage.
She’s quieter.
Our marriage is in trouble.
She doesn’t want sex.
She isn’t attracted to me.
She’s less affectionate.
She doesn’t love me anymore.
But what if she’s withdrawing from other things too?
Friends.
Hobbies.
Family.
Activities she normally enjoys.
Maybe she’s exhausted.
Maybe work is overwhelming.
Maybe she’s grieving.
Maybe she’s experiencing anxiety, depression, hormonal changes, sleep problems, pain, or another health issue.
I’m a relationship coach, not a doctor, and neither you nor I should diagnose your wife from a list of behaviors on the Internet.
But look at the pattern.
Is she pulling away specifically from you?
Or is she pulling away from everything?
Those are two very different situations.
If you notice significant changes in her mood, health, or behavior beyond your relationship, compassion may be more useful than seduction strategies.
And appropriate professional or medical support may matter more than another date night.
7. You May Be Trying to Restore the Old Marriage Instead of Building the Next One
This might be the biggest one.
When people sense their marriage changing, they often want to go backward.
“I want us to be like we were.”
Like when?
Before the children?
Before the mortgage?
Before the career changes?
Before ten years of life happened?
You can’t become those people again.
And perhaps you shouldn’t try.
The question isn’t necessarily:
“How do I get my old wife back?”
It’s:
“Who are we now, and what kind of marriage do we want next?”
Maybe your old date night doesn’t work anymore.
Create a new one.
Maybe your old way of communicating no longer fits your current life.
Develop another.
Maybe sex has become predictable.
Talk about what you both want now.
Maybe you’ve spent years prioritizing children, careers, and responsibilities.
What happens when you start prioritizing each other again?
A struggling marriage doesn’t always need to be restored to an earlier version.
Sometimes it needs to evolve.
That shift in perspective can change everything.
Is My Wife Pulling Away Because She Doesn’t Love Me Anymore?
Possibly.
But pulling away doesn’t prove that.
People withdraw for many reasons.
Resentment.
Exhaustion.
Stress.
Fear.
Feeling unheard.
Relationship dissatisfaction.
Health problems.
Sexual problems.
Personal problems.
Loss of attraction.
And yes, sometimes because their feelings about the marriage have changed.
But don’t choose the most frightening explanation simply because you’re frightened.
Look for patterns.
Look for changes.
And most importantly, talk to your wife.
If the biggest change you’ve noticed is a loss of physical warmth – fewer hugs, kisses, and affectionate touches – read Why Is My Wife Distant and Not Affectionate?
That’s a more specific version of the problem.
Does My Wife Pulling Away Mean She’s Cheating?
No.
It can happen when someone is having an affair, but emotional distance by itself isn’t proof of infidelity.
Don’t build a case around:
“She seems different.”
If concrete behaviors concern you, address them honestly.
But accusing your wife of cheating because she’s tired, less affectionate, or wants more space can turn one relationship problem into two.
Start with what you actually know.
Not what you’re afraid might be true.
What Should I Do When My Wife Is Pulling Away?
Your instinct may tell you to close the distance immediately.
Resist the urge to panic.
Start with these steps.
1. Stop chasing reassurance
Don’t ask her ten different versions of:
“Do you still love me?”
You might get reassurance for twenty minutes.
Then you’ll need it again.
Solve the problem rather than repeatedly treating the anxiety it creates.
2. Identify when things changed
Think chronologically.
When did you first notice the distance?
What was happening in your marriage?
What was happening in her life?
What was happening in yours?
Did the change happen suddenly or gradually?
You’re looking for context, not someone to blame.
3. Ask what you’ve stopped noticing
What did your wife once ask for that she no longer mentions?
What have you stopped doing together?
What part of her life do you know surprisingly little about?
Sometimes what disappeared tells you where the distance began.
4. Have one calm conversation
Not at midnight.
Not immediately after rejection.
Not during an argument.
Try:
“I’ve felt some distance between us lately, and I miss feeling close to you. I’m not asking you to reassure me. I want to understand how you’ve been feeling about us.”
Then do the difficult part.
Listen.
5. Don’t defend yourself against every sentence
Suppose she says:
“You never listen to me.”
Your brain immediately produces twelve examples proving that you do.
Don’t start there.
Try:
“When do you feel that most?”
Understanding her perception doesn’t require agreeing with every conclusion.
But you can’t solve a problem you refuse to understand.
6. Work on the things you control
Your health.
Your behavior.
Your communication.
Your contribution to your shared life.
Your emotional stability.
Your effort.
Your ability to keep promises.
You cannot force your wife to feel differently.
You can become more intentional about the husband you’re bringing into the relationship.
7. Plant something small
Don’t announce:
“Starting today, I’m going to save our marriage!”
That’s enormous pressure.
Do something small instead.
Put the phones away for twenty minutes.
Ask a real question.
Plan a simple date.
Take responsibility for something without seeking praise.
Kiss her without expecting sex.
Do the thing you promised you’d do.
Then tomorrow, plant something else.
Relationships often drift apart through hundreds of small moments.
They can also begin moving closer through small moments.
What Mark Finally Realized
Mark spent months asking:
“Why is my wife pulling away?”
Eventually, he discovered he’d been asking the wrong question.
He really meant:
“What can I do to make her stop pulling away?”
That put all his attention on controlling the outcome.
Once he changed the question to:
“What’s happening between us?”
he started seeing things differently.
Some of the problem belonged to his wife.
Some belonged to him.
Some belonged to neither of them.
Life had changed.
They had stopped spending meaningful time together.
There were unresolved frustrations.
And Mark’s panic about losing her had added another layer of pressure.
There wasn’t one magic fix.
There were several small changes.
Better conversations.
Less pressure.
More consistency.
More curiosity.
More time together.
And more willingness to discuss uncomfortable things instead of waiting for them to explode.
The distance hadn’t appeared overnight.
Neither did closeness.
But they finally started moving in a different direction.
One Small Thing to Do Tonight
Here’s your assignment.
Don’t ask:
“Why are you pulling away from me?”
Ask your wife a question you genuinely don’t know the answer to.
Not about the children.
Not about groceries.
Not about tomorrow’s schedule.
About her.
Then listen.
You don’t need to repair your entire marriage tonight.
You need one genuine moment of connection.
That’s your mustard seed.
Plant it.
When Pulling Away Has Become a Pattern
If you’ve tried talking, tried giving space, tried being more affectionate, and tried “fixing” things – but your wife continues moving farther away – you may need more than another isolated relationship tip.
Especially if you recognize a cycle like this:
She pulls away.
You chase.
She feels pressured.
She withdraws further.
You panic.
You chase harder.
Breaking that pattern requires understanding the relationship dynamic, not simply finding better words to persuade her.
Brad Browning’s Mend the Marriage is designed specifically to repair troubled marriages and change patterns that can push spouses farther apart.
You don’t need to decide whether it’s right for you based on what I say.
Instead, watch his presentation and compare his approach with what’s actually happening in your marriage.
If it fits your situation, you’ll know your next step.
If it doesn’t, you’ve still started doing the most important thing:
You’ve stopped asking how to force your wife closer and started trying to understand why the distance exists.

7 Flirty Emojis to Send Your Wife to Spark Attraction Again
At 10:14 AM, your wife gets a text from you:
“Can you pick up milk on your way home?”
At 12:37 PM:
“What time is Emma’s practice?”
At 4:02 PM:
“I’ll be home around 5:30.”
Welcome to married texting.
Efficient?
Absolutely.
Exciting?
Probably not.
There’s nothing wrong with grocery lists, schedules, and reminders. When you share a life with someone, those messages are necessary.
The problem begins when they’re almost the only messages you send each other.
Then one evening you suddenly decide you want to bring some flirtation back into your marriage.
So you go from:
“Don’t forget the avocados.”
to:
🥑🍑🔥😈
That’s not necessarily seductive.
It might just make your wife wonder what’s wrong with you.
Flirty emojis can add playfulness, affection, and sexual tension to messages between husband and wife.
But the emoji itself isn’t magic.
Context matters. Timing matters. And the words surrounding it matter even more.
So let’s look at seven flirty emojis you can use with your wife – what they can communicate, when they can work, and when they can become too much.
Can You Really Flirt With Your Wife Using Emojis?
Of course.
You flirted before you got married.
Marriage didn’t revoke your flirting license.
In fact, one of the easiest traps in a long-term relationship is allowing communication to become almost entirely practical.
You become excellent partners in running a household.
But you stop communicating like two people who are attracted to each other.
That’s where a well-placed emoji can help.
Not because 😉 has some mysterious psychological power over women.
It doesn’t.
An emoji works because it can change the tone of an otherwise ordinary message.
Compare:
“You looked good this morning.”
with:
“You looked good this morning 😉”
Same basic words.
Slightly different message.
The wink creates ambiguity.
How good?
What exactly was he thinking?
That’s where flirting lives.
But before you start adding emojis to every message you send your wife, remember this rule:
One well-placed signal is usually better than seven obvious ones.
Let’s start with one of the easiest.
1. 😉 The Winking Face – The “You Know What I Mean” Emoji
The wink is probably one of the safest places to start.
It can make an innocent sentence slightly less innocent.
For example:
“I keep thinking about this morning 😉”
Or:
“You should wear that dress again sometime 😉”
Or even:
“I have an idea for later 😉”
Notice what the emoji does.
It doesn’t explain the thought.
It leaves a little space for your wife to interpret it.
That’s useful because flirting often works through suggestion rather than explanation.
The wink can also work particularly well when you’re referencing an inside joke or shared memory.
Maybe you had an unexpectedly romantic evening on vacation.
You could send:
“Just walked past an Italian restaurant. Reminded me of Rome 😉”
To everybody else, that’s meaningless.
To your wife, it may carry an entire memory.
And that’s one of your greatest advantages as her husband:
You have history.
Use it.
When not to use 😉
Don’t put a wink after every sentence.
“Can you buy milk? 😉”
“The plumber is coming at 3 😉”
“Your mother called 😉”
Eventually, you’re not flirting.
You’ve developed a punctuation problem.
Use it when there’s actually something playful underneath the words.
2. 😏 The Smirking Face – When You Want to Turn Up the Flirtation
The smirk is stronger.
😉 can say:
“I’m being playful.”
😏 often says:
“I’m thinking something I’m not saying.”
That’s why context matters even more.
For example:
“You were very distracting this morning 😏”
Or:
“I’m looking forward to getting you alone later 😏”
You don’t need to explain exactly what you’re thinking.
That’s the point.
You’re giving her enough information to understand the direction without writing a paragraph describing your intentions.
Use 😏 when there’s already warmth.
If your wife has barely spoken to you for three days, suddenly sending:
“Can’t wait to get you alone 😏”
probably won’t repair your marriage.
Flirting works best when it’s built on some existing connection.
If your wife has become emotionally distant and generally unaffectionate, work on that problem too rather than attempting to emoji your way around it.
An emoji can enhance connection.
It can’t substitute for one.
3. 🔥 The Fire Emoji – Tell Her You Still Notice Her
Sometimes married people stop saying the obvious.
You still find your wife attractive.
You assume she knows.
Maybe she does.
But knowing something and hearing it aren’t quite the same.
That’s where 🔥 can be useful.
Your wife sends you a picture before going out.
Instead of:
“Nice.”
try:
“Okay… 🔥”
Or:
“That dress 🔥”
Short.
Clear.
No essay required.
The fire emoji is useful because its meaning is relatively easy to understand in this context:
I think you look hot.
And yes, you’re allowed to think your wife is hot.
But don’t make appearance the only thing you notice
If every compliment you give your wife is about her body, the compliments can eventually become one-dimensional.
Notice other things too.
Her humor.
Her intelligence.
Her kindness.
Her competence.
Her personality.
What she does well.
Flirtation should be part of how you communicate with your wife, not the only positive attention she receives.
4. 😈 The Smiling Devil – For Couples Who Already Have That Kind of Dynamic
Now we’re moving into stronger territory.
The smiling devil usually carries a more mischievous or suggestive tone.
For example:
“I just had a very bad idea 😈”
Now don’t immediately send another message explaining the entire idea.
Let her wonder.
If she replies:
“Oh really?”
Good.
Now you have a conversation.
That’s much more interesting than dumping the entire message into her phone at once.
But read your relationship
Not every couple communicates this way.
And that’s fine.
If you’ve never sent your wife a suggestive message in fifteen years of marriage, jumping directly to 😈 may feel strangely out of character.
Start where your relationship actually is.
The goal isn’t to imitate some Internet version of flirting.
The goal is to create playful communication that feels natural between you and your wife.
5. ❤️ The Heart – The Obvious Emoji Men Sometimes Underestimate
The heart isn’t particularly mysterious.
That’s exactly why it’s useful.
Not every flirty message needs to be sexual.
Sometimes what creates closeness later is reminding your wife during an ordinary day:
I’m thinking about you.
For example:
“Hope your meeting goes well today ❤️”
Or:
“I really enjoyed last night ❤️”
Or simply:
“Miss you ❤️”
These messages aren’t sophisticated.
They don’t need to be.
One mistake men sometimes make when trying to rebuild attraction is focusing so heavily on sexual tension that they forget emotional connection.
If your wife feels emotionally disconnected from you, escalating everything sexually can make the distance worse.
Warmth and flirtation can coexist.
In a good marriage, they usually do.
6. 👀 The Eyes – The Curiosity Emoji
This one is fun because it naturally creates a question.
Suppose your wife texts:
“I bought something for Saturday.”
You reply:
“Oh? 👀”
You’ve communicated interest without needing six words.
Or perhaps you send:
“Just remembered what you were wearing on our second date 👀”
What does that mean?
That’s exactly why it works.
There’s something unfinished about it.
And unfinished thoughts invite replies.
You can also combine it with anticipation:
“Looking forward to seeing you tonight 👀”
Again, context decides whether that’s affectionate, playful, or suggestive.
Your shared relationship fills in the blanks.
7. 🥑 The Avocado – Yes, Even an Avocado Can Be Flirty
Here’s where things get interesting.
Is 🥑 inherently a sexual emoji?
No.
And that’s precisely the point.
Almost any emoji can become flirtatious when two people give it a shared meaning.
Imagine you and your wife once had an amazing date at a Mexican restaurant.
Or perhaps you laughed about paying extra for guacamole on your first vacation together.
Maybe there’s an avocado-related joke nobody else would understand.
Now 🥑 isn’t merely an avocado.
It’s your thing.
You could text:
“Walked past that place again 🥑😉”
And suddenly an ordinary symbol carries a memory.
This is much more interesting than copying a list of supposedly “sexual emojis” from the Internet.
Because the most powerful emoji in your marriage might be one that means absolutely nothing to anybody else.
A pineapple.
A coffee cup.
A taco.
A penguin.
Whatever.
If it activates a shared romantic, funny, or flirtatious memory, it has meaning.
Shared meaning beats universal meaning.
Don’t Go From Grocery Lists to 🥑🍑🔥 Overnight.
This is where men can get the entire idea wrong.
Imagine your recent text history looks like this:
“Buy eggs.”
“I’ll be late.”
“Did you call the dentist?”
“What’s for dinner?”
And then suddenly:
“Hey baby 😏🔥😈🍑🥑👀”
Your wife may not think:
“Wow. My husband has rediscovered his seductive side.”
She may think:
“Has his phone been stolen?”
Don’t try to manufacture instant sexual chemistry with symbols.
Start changing the way you communicate.
Add warmth.
Add curiosity.
Add humor.
Add appreciation.
Add occasional flirtation.
Then an emoji can amplify something that already exists in the message.
That’s very different from asking the emoji to do all the work.
The Biggest Mistake: Using Emojis Only When You Want Something
Imagine this pattern.
You send practical messages Monday through Friday.
Then Saturday night:
😏
Your wife knows exactly what’s happening.
You’re not flirting.
You’re submitting a request.
If every flirty message is immediately followed by an attempt to have sex, your wife can start treating flirting as an early-warning system.
“Here we go again.”
That’s the opposite of what you want.
Flirt when you aren’t expecting anything.
Tell her she looked beautiful this morning even when you won’t see her until tomorrow.
Send a playful memory in the middle of Wednesday afternoon.
Tell her you’re thinking about her.
Then continue with your day.
Not every spark needs to become a fire tonight.
Sometimes anticipation is the entire point.
The 3-Part Flirty Text Formula
If you’re unsure what to send, try this simple structure:
Observation + implication + emoji
For example:
Observation: “You looked really good leaving for work this morning.”
Implication: “It was slightly inconvenient.”
Emoji: 😏
Together:
“You looked really good leaving for work this morning. Slightly inconvenient, actually 😏”
Or:
Observation: “I just passed the restaurant from our anniversary.”
Implication: “Made me remember what happened afterward.”
Emoji: 😉
Together:
“Just passed the restaurant from our anniversary. Made me remember the rest of that night 😉”
The emoji isn’t carrying the message.
It’s changing the tone of the message.
That’s the principle I want you to remember.
What If My Wife Doesn’t Respond to Flirty Texts?
Don’t panic.
And definitely don’t send:
“Why didn’t you respond?”
She may be working.
Busy.
Distracted.
Not in the mood.
Or perhaps your message didn’t land.
One unanswered flirty text isn’t a referendum on your marriage.
Look at the broader pattern.
If your wife consistently ignores affection, avoids physical closeness, and seems emotionally distant, the issue may be bigger than texting.
Read Why My Wife Is Pulling Away? and look at the relationship as a whole.
If she’s still warm and affectionate but sexual interest has declined, Why Is My Wife Not Interested in Me Sexually? deals specifically with that problem.
Use the right solution for the right problem.
What If Flirting Feels Awkward After Years of Marriage?
Then make it small.
Don’t try to become someone you’re not.
You don’t need to start writing suddenly:
“Greetings, temptress 😈🔥🍑”
If you’ve never communicated like that before.
Start with something believable.
“You looked really nice this morning ❤️”
Later:
“Actually, ‘nice’ was underselling it 😉”
That’s enough.
See how she responds.
Relationships develop their own language.
Your goal is to rediscover yours.
One Small Thing to Try Today
Pick one emoji from this list.
Not seven.
One.
Then think about something genuine you could say to your wife.
A compliment.
A shared memory.
Something you’re looking forward to.
An inside joke.
Write the message first.
Then ask:
Would one emoji make the tone warmer, funnier, or slightly more flirtatious?
If yes, add it.
Then send the message.
Don’t demand a response.
Don’t immediately escalate.
Plant the seed.
And continue your day.
Because the goal isn’t to become the world’s greatest emoji seducer.
It’s to remind your wife – and yourself – that marriage doesn’t have to reduce communication to groceries, schedules, and bills.
The Emoji Isn’t the Secret – The Message Is
There’s a reason I haven’t given you some ridiculous promise like:
“Send your wife 😏 three times, and she’ll drag you into the bedroom tonight.”
Relationships don’t work that way.
Emojis are tools.
The real skill is knowing what to say, when to say it, and how to create anticipation without making your wife feel pressured.

And if you’ve read this article because you want to bring some playful, romantic, and intimate communication back into your marriage, there’s a resource built around that idea.
Text Your Wife Back Into Bed focuses on how a husband can use texting to rebuild flirtation and sexual anticipation with his wife.
So if today’s article gave you the emojis, the next step is learning what to put around them.
Learn how to text your wife in a way that rebuilds the spark here.
Don’t send more emojis.
Send better messages.
And sometimes, one little 😉 is all the message needs.
